Pig Beach, island of the Bahamas renowned for its adorable pigs
Big Major Cay, also known as Pig Beach, is one of the uninhabited islands located in the Bahamas; it’s an island of unspoiled nature, whose beaches are known around the world for hosting a group of adorable pigs. What seems to be a beautiful fairy tale for children has become reality: these lucky pigs populating the island, in fact, can safely chill in the sun or swim in its clear turquoise waters. Moreover, they really love tourists, who entertain them and feed them with either bread, fruits or natural food. That’s why, as soon as the pigs spot a boat on the horizon, they swim fast towards it, hoping for a few succulent bites.
But how did these animals end up living there? Some say they were left there by a group of sailors who planned to come back and cook them. However, they never did and the pigs managed to survive thanks to excess food dumped by passing boats: for them it was the beginning of a new life in a corner of earthly paradise!
