Red sand beach: the wonderful red beach of the Galapagos
About 965 km west of Ecuador, you can see a small volcanic island of the Galapagos archipelago, the island of Rabida: 5 square kilometres of paradise, thanks to its location and its colour in contrast with the blue of the ocean, is considered one of the most diverse and unusual panoramas of the archipelago. Its peculiarity is enclosed in the beautiful red beach located on the north side. The intense red colour of the sand is the combination of a high rate of iron present in the ashes of the nearby volcano and the corrosion of its slopes.
Behind it, on the west coast, is an unspoilt and wild habitat, where you can admire numerous colonies of sea lions, iguanas, pink flamingos and pelicans, with a wide variety of birds and rare plant species.
The rocks that overlook the eastern end of the island of Rabida, are bathed by crystal clear waters that allow practising beautiful diving admiring rays, sea turtles and even some solitary and peaceful whitetip sharks.
However, being still an uncontaminated and uninhabited island, it is possible to reach it only through guided tours and itineraries organized by tour operators. Don’t let her get away!
